The First Day

After a stark meeting time at 8:30 a.m., our Paris journey had begun. Before the days explorations, we stopped at Le Frangines for some breakfast. After our first trip on the metro, our first stop was Notre Dame. I was sad that we couldn't go inside, being that I had been before and wanted to see it again, but alas, construction was still underway. When we were done there, we took a short walk over to see La Sainte Chapelle and La Conciergerie. Learning the history of these two landmarks was fascinating. I especially liked the Conciergerie because of the history surrounding the Revolution that's attached to the building. After a short break for lunch, we met again, this time at Le Lourve. Being able to roam the halls under no time constraint was the way to do it. My favorite piece from that day was definitely the Winged Victory. Her fixed position at the top of that stair case really adds to the power she holds. To me, the sculpture evoked a newfound sense of feminism that was really inspiring. A great day overall.
